Late-game Skyjo strategy
Value certainty, count hidden cards and be cautious about revealing the final card.
Near the end, replace known high cards with known low cards. A risky hidden swap that might save one point is rarely worth exposing a hidden -2.
Check whether your move ends the round. Ending is a separate decision with a possible doubling penalty.
Also: the nerdy view
As the number of remaining turns shrinks, the option value of long matching plans falls. Known score reductions become relatively more valuable. Update the unseen distribution using exposed layouts and discard history where practical.
The correct risk level depends on whether you are leading. A player far behind may rationally accept variance that a leader should avoid.
