Expected value compares average score outcomes, but it does not capture timing, matching or doubling risk on its own.
A blind draw may be good on average and still produce a bad card this turn. Use expected value as a guide, not a promise.

For a simple exposed-card replacement, calculate the weighted average value of the unseen draw and compare it with the known card. Then add the value of the reject-and-reveal option, potential matching-column effects and the probability that the move triggers the round.
A complete decision model also considers opponent final turns and the asymmetric doubling penalty. Publish assumptions, sample size and source code with any simulation claim.
