Is Skyjo good for children?
Yes for many families, especially when children are comfortable with simple addition and taking turns.

Classic combines luck, visible choices and arithmetic. Use the tap-card scorekeeper if totaling negative and positive values slows the game.
A six-year-old can take turns and match cards happily enough, but will need help adding 12, 8, -2 and 5 at the end of a round. That addition is what the 8+ on the box is about, not the difficulty of the rules.
Do not quietly remove the doubling rule for one player unless everyone agrees it is a house rule.
This answer is for Classic Skyjo unless stated otherwise. Action and Junior may use different mechanics, and Voyage follows the original Classic gameplay.
