Taking the discard card
When you take the visible discard in Classic Skyjo, you must swap it for one card in your layout.
The discard is a commitment
The visible card gives you certainty, but taking it commits you to using it. Choose any one position in your layout, face up or face down, and put the discard card there face up.
Place the card you removed on top of the discard pile. When the replaced card was face down, do not turn it over for everyone to inspect before discarding it. It is simply revealed as it becomes the new discard.
The discard is 2 and you have a visible 10. Replace the 10 with the 2, then place the 10 on the discard pile. The next player can now choose that 10.
The discard pile is not a preview pile. You cannot pick up the top card and then choose the draw pile instead.
Taking the visible discard
A sequence. A 2 is taken from the discard pile, placed onto any position in the player layout, and the card it replaces goes face up onto the discard pile.
The discard shows a 2
You can see the value before you commit.
Choose a position
Any of your twelve, face up or face down.
The old card leaves
It goes onto the discard pile face up, whatever it was.
The discard is never compulsory, but once taken it must be exchanged.
