How does a Skyjo round end?
The round-ending player reveals every remaining card, then every other player receives one final turn.
Trigger
A round is triggered to end when one player has no face-down cards left in their remaining layout. Removed matching columns do not need to be replaced.
Final turns
Each other player completes one more turn in normal order. Those players may still replace cards, reveal hidden cards and remove newly completed matching columns. The player who triggered the ending does not take another turn.
Reveal and score
After the last final turn, reveal every card still hidden. Resolve any matching vertical columns created by those reveals, then total the cards that remain.
Why the trigger is risky
Ending first does not automatically win the round. A player who ends without the single lowest score may have their positive round total doubled.
How a round ends
A timeline. One player turns their last card face up; every other player takes exactly one more turn in order; play stops before returning to the player who ended the round.
Pete reveals his last card
All twelve of his cards are now face up.

All twelve of his cards are now face up.
The round is now ending. It does not stop immediately.
Everyone else takes one turn
In the normal order, one turn each. No more, no fewer.

In the normal order, one turn each. No more, no fewer.
Every remaining card is turned face up at the end of that turn.
Play stops before Pete
It never comes back round to the player who ended it.

Now count the hands.
One player finishes, everybody else gets one turn, and that is the round.
