How many people can play Skyjo?
Classic Skyjo is designed for 2 to 8 players.
Official range
The official Classic rulebook lists two to eight players, age eight and above, with a typical playing time of about 30 minutes.
How the feel changes
Two players produce a faster, more readable contest. Larger groups reveal more cards between your turns and can make discard opportunities less predictable. They also increase round length and table space.
More than eight
Combining decks or inventing a nine-player format is a house rule. It may work physically, but the card distribution, game length and official player recommendation no longer apply.
Junior and Action
Do not assume the same player count across every edition. The edition selector and product page should state the relevant official range.
How many can play
Skyjo Classic supports two to eight players with one deck. Nine or more needs a second deck and is a house rule.
One deck
Twelve cards each, plus enough left over for a draw pile.
| Player | Round | Counts as |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum players | 2 | players |
| Maximum players | 8 | players |
| Cards dealt at eight players | 96 | of 150 |
Eight is the printed maximum. Beyond that you are combining decks.
