The history of Skyjo
Skyjo was created by Magilano and grew from the original game into Action, Junior and Voyage editions.

The original idea
Skyjo is a modern card game built around a simple reversal: points are usually bad, so players try to replace high cards with lower ones while deciding how much hidden information to reveal.
The original game established the recognisable 12-card layout, vertical matching columns and cumulative race to the lowest score.
The family grows
Magilano later expanded the range in different directions:
- Skyjo Action adds a separate action deck, effects and altered matching-row possibilities.
- Skyjo Junior redesigns the objective for younger players, including a highest-score win condition.
- Skyjo Voyage makes the original experience more portable rather than introducing a new core ruleset.
Why rule sources matter
As the range grows, online explanations can accidentally combine rules from different editions. This site treats each official rulebook as the primary source and labels every answer by edition.
Editorial note
This page intentionally avoids unsupported claims about sales, rankings or precise publication milestones until they can be verified from a primary or strong secondary source. The history should be expanded through dated, cited updates rather than copied retailer descriptions.
